Extranet Usage Analysis System

The problem
Our client needed to analyse usage of their extranet to improve customer service and better understand how their system is being used.
Our solution
Action logging
We developed a system which logs key activities within the system, for example :
- login
- search for information
- download of PDF documents
- ordering online
All of these actions can be linked to an extranet member's registration information, yielding a rich set of data for analysis.
Reporting
The reporting area consists of two components : real-time data analysis and summary reporting, and analysis file generation for use within the company-wide contacts database.
Benefits
Our customer now has exactly what they needed :
- precise usage data a fraction of the size of web-server generated log files
- a reporting system that efficiently gives them the analysis they need
- accurate data about customers' information needs
   Control panel that allows administrators to analyse data and build summary reports.
   The data can be downloaded or sent by email for import into a contacts database.
